It was my late great-aunt Jesse and my mother who taught me how to cook. From those recipes that you cannot write down to using a cookbook, veering off recipe and creating a palette that can pick out almost any ingredients. Food preparation is a spiritual experience for me. It is love, it honors my ancestors. The feel, touch, texture, color, smell, chemistry all make up my love of food. Cooking centers me in who I am, and whose I am.
